Let’s talk hair colour pigments!
Pigments 101
Not at all…and that’s the beauty of the range! There are no chemical nasties in these pigments so that means that not only are they NON-TOXIC but also 100% safe for children too!
Nope! I for one have changed my hair colour about 6 times in 2022 alone. So that’s why I ensured this range washes out to allow you to change it up whenever you get bored!
The pigments will wash out in around 4-10 washes (dependant on whether you wash in warm or cold water, the products you use etc.)
To speed up the process- I would recommend washing with hot water and a clarifying shampoo. To slow down the process, use the coldest water you can and a sulphate free shampoo and conditioner when washing your hair.
Never fear- I got you!
Do you know the cool part about these pigments? You can combine them to create a HOST of different colours.
So using basic colour wheel knowledge- the sky is the limit!

Tips & Tricks
Top tip: Use the coldest water you can handle when washing your hair. Trust me, as a long term colourful hair fairy- it makes a massive difference!
Why you may ask?
Well when you use warm water, it causes your hair follicles to expand and thus let go of the pigment they are trying to absorb!
ALSO: SULPHATE-FREE shampoos and conditioners!
A standard ratio of 1:1 is usually perfect. So 1 part pigment, 1 part conditioner.
However you can adjust (add more pigment for more intense colour; or vice versa, less pigment for more subdued colour)
With great colour, comes great responsibility (and occasionally some colour seeping!)
BUT never fear, should your favourite pillowcase or shirt be looking a little too colourful, just give a good wash as soon as you can and the colours will wash right out.
After the first few hair washes you will notice far less colour ‘bleeding’. Till that point though, perhaps consider swapping out that snow white pillowcase for a slightly darker alternative!
How to Use the Pigments
Please ensure your hair is firstly clean, free from excess oils or styling products and pre-lightened.
Ensure your hair is 100% dry before application. Once your desired ratio is mixed, apply throughout your hair in whichever style you desire (ombre, balayage or solid)
Once application is complete, leave on for a further 45-60 minutes. You can leave it on longer- there is no negative side effects. As you are also mixing the pigment with conditioner, you will basically just enjoy an extended hair nourishing session!
After the time is up, you can rinse the colour out. Please do not use shampoo again in this session. If you can handle it, I would recommend using the coldest water to rinse as that will lock in the colour and ensure the hair follicle remains contracted enabling the colour to last longer.
After, simply let air dry or blow dry if required on a lower heat.
NOTE: The sun, chlorine, extreme styling heat will all contribute to pace at which the colour fades.
Whilst some natural blonde hair will still reflect the colour pigments, other blonde hair may not. Some individuals with natural blonde hair may be able to dye it effortlessly whereas others will need to pre-lighten.
This is why I often stress the necessity of ensuring hair is pre-lightened for the best result. The higher the level of hair, the more vibrant the result.
The main thing to remember is… this pigment is chemical free. Which means there is ZERO damage to your hair. BUT that being said, because it is not chemical based- it doesn’t break down the bonds of your hair to penetrate and colour thus it needs the best canvas to work from.
Your hair’s level is a number that represents how light or dark your shade is.
The level system of hair colour is a universal system used by colourists, cosmetologists, and hair colour manufacturers to standardize hair colour charts. Your level simply refers to how light or dark your hair colour is—the lower the number, the darker the hair.
Every single person’s hair is different and thus reacts different to products. Someone using Fuschia for example on level 8 hair will receive a different result to someone using the same colour on level 6 hair for example.
I suggest, once your hair is at the desired pre-lightened level, do a test strand. Mix a smaller amount of product and take a few cm’s of hair from around ear level (pieces that can be hidden again if necessary) and follow the above steps. That way, you will be able to see if the product is going to work for you and also if you need to adjust the concentration/ratio etc.
